OH NO! This fire truck was in this parking lot.. in our honor! Along with the nice police cars...(no picture available)!
So this afternoon I had to run and meet my mother in law at Jordan Landing. I left the car running, and got brady out so he could run around while we visited for a minute. After a min, Brady got in the car and pretended he was driving. Trying to be the "super-safe" mom.. that I usually AM NOT.. I turned the car OFF so he wouldn't somehow drive into the building... HOWEVER.. the door was open.. for those of you wondering if I would just leave my baby in a hot, sealed up car on purpose.. ;). After we visited for a minute, it was time to go so I shut the passenger door so I could go to the driver side and get Brady out and get him in his seat.... OHHH yeah right. He had locked the door! So here is my baby, in my car.. thinking he is pretty HOT stuff that he can do anything he wants in there and I can't get him. My first thought.. "Thank goodness for On Star!!" They can get that thing unlocked as fast as I could if I had the remote in my hands. I call onstar.. of course I had forgotten my password, all information is outdated from our move. After 5 minutes of verifying all info so they know its really me, they finally try to unlock the doors.. NOT WORKING. They try again.. NOT WORKING! In the meantime I am trying to get Brady to hit the unlock button on the door.. but its the same button as the lock button.. just depends on which way you push it. He keeps hitting the lock button. I try to get him to hit the button on the keys.. but by now he is getting to irritated to help much. After about 4 tries, OnStar gave up and said they had to call 911. By this time Brady is HOT and not happy. I called poor Ann who is now in a movie with her friends, unaware that the situation is what it is. She came running out of the theater full speed to see if she could help. By the time the nice fire men, and policewoman came.. it was a good 20-25 min.. maybe even longer.. it actually seems like it was about 2 hours! Right as they were pulling up, Brady hit the right button on the key remote and he was FREE!!
Every person who walked by us during our little episode would stop and try to talk to Brady thru the window.. tell him to "Push the button" .. and it was just making him more angry. He doesn't do so well with Strangers.. or anyone who isn't mom, dad or the grandparents for that matter. It was kind of funny to watch though.. all of these strangers prancing around my car.. acting like 5 year olds.. "push the button honey, push it.. push it".. it was funny... BUT NOT funny!
The part that made it worse.. When I pulled into the parking lot, knowing that I would only be 5 minutes (so I thought).. I just pulled into a handicap parking spot.. I just knew I was going to get a ticket for that when the cops came. Luckily.. they didn't even notice!

OHHH MAN!!!!! That is so scary, and funny all at the same time. Go figure the time you were in a handicap spot. Was Hannah there too?
No.. Hannah was NOT with us. She was at school. She thought it was pretty cool when I told her.
You definitely have Harward blood in ya. Sorry, but that is a joke around our house if something like this happens. I'm glad it all turned out ok. I would have been mortified to have the police and fire truck come. You seem to handle things like this pretty well.
Never a dull moment with the Beals..hehe!! Good thing you turned off your car :) I probably would have left it running...YIKES!
of course he opens it right as they get there right? im sure you felt totally helpless.. glad things are ok now. a fun story to tell later :)
Funny story!
Been there, done that! It's aweful! But Briton barely 1 and was strapped in his carseat screaming at the top of his lungs! And it was in the middle of the summer in St. George. It was tramatic and I totally feel for you:)
Wow what a story! Glad to hear little homey is ok and you were able to see the humor in the situation. I went down to Richfield once, checked myself into the hotel, then went back to the car to grab my stuff only to realize I locked my keys in there! I asked the hotel desk for a wire hanger and explained the situation...needless to say they came out with me to make sure I was breaking into my own car. Lol
I bet that was so scary for you. That must of been a crazy day for you. I'm glad that you didn't get a ticket for parking in hadicap.
That is scary.. I am glad you didn't get in trouble for leaving him in the car. I hate that when onstar is a pain! Lately I have been trying to roll down my windows when i go in somewhere just for a second so i f that does happen, I can try to reach my hand in there to unlock it. Glad you got him out and safe!
