So a few weeks ago my cute sister in law hosted a "COUPON CLASS". She had gone to a class a few weeks before that and was telling me how awesome it was. I was very interested to learn more about it.
So at this class, the girl who teaches it showed us her receipts. She has 2 kids in diapers, and a baby on formula...we all know that alone is a ton of money. She said that with Diapers, formula, and EVERYTHING else she needs a month, she spends about $50 per week (and she splurges on stuff like name brand chlorox wipes, and things like that she doesn't feel are necessities, but are great to have). To be honest, I think I spend that at least twice a week ;) CLICK HERE to view her spending report over the past few months. It is truly UNBELIEVABLE!!! I think it is more unbelievable for me because I don't think I have EVER cut a coupon, and to be honest, I don't really pay much attention to what is even on sale or not... (Bad habit I know!)
The fun thing about this program She shops smart/grocery smarts is that you DON'T sit and CUT coupons, and you DON'T have to shop at a million different stores to get what you need.. you can do it ALL in one store! The other great thing about this program is that it helps you build your food storage!
So I have been saving my coupons (NOT CUTTING THEM, just saving the whole little packet)for the past few weeks. I have not really used them yet because I was trying to learn more about how to do it to make it the most effective. Today was my first little "Coupon venture" to the store.
I feel like it could have been a TON better than it was, but I'm quite proud of myself!!
The following is what I got:
-12 boxes of cereal (NAME BRAND, not the malto-meal stuff). This may seem like a lot of cereal to most of you, but when you live in a "Beal" household.. this will be gone in a couple weeks ;)
-2 Gal of milk
-10 things of yo plait yogurt
-BIG brick of cheese
-6 boxes of hamburger helper... I suppose that's food storage cause we don't eat a ton of it.. but it was a GREAT DEAL!!!
-4 boxes of a variety of fruit snacks, fruit by the foot, gushers etc.
-2 boxes of go-gurts
-6 lbs of fresh, boneless, skinless chicken breasts
-1 Box smuckers uncrustables PB&J premade little sandwich things (I think it has 6 sandwiches)
-1 Head of lettuce
-1 Pkg of Romain Stalks (4 Stalks)
-2 lbs fresh peaches
-Gallon of apple juice
-3 cans of spaghetti-o's
-BIG bottle of A-1 steak sauce
-12 pk of individual serving gold fish crackers
-1 large sour cream
- AND most importantly, a HUGE Dr. Pepper for me and a treat for the kids.
My total bill originally was $116.65 and after my fabulous little coupon deduction,
I spent $65.58
Total saved..$51.07
I think I am going to have her do a class in the Pleasant Grove area if anyone wants to come to it. Its pretty cool.
Hopefully my next receipt can look even better.
