Our new addition

I am not only the mother of 2 crazy kiddo's.. but now.. officially the mother of a Guinea Pig!!
Everyone... meet SQUEAK!!



Hannah has wanted a pet forever! Every Time she is anywhere and someone has a pet, or she's sitting outside watching people walk their dogs, she always gets so sad and says, "I really, really want a pet... but my Dad won't let me have one". She talks about it all the time. I have always wanted to get a dog, but it just doesn't fit into our lifestyle at the moment.

The other day the kids and I ran to Target. Petco is right next door and Hannah has the sign recognized, and always wants to go in when she sees it. We had talked about maybe starting small with a hamster or something, but we never really did anything about it. I immediately called Jesse and told him we were going in and wondered what he thought about getting a hamster. He said he didn't care. The more I thought about it, I thought that since Hannah was so sure that he wouldn't let her get a pet, that he should surprise her with it. We went into Petco and started asking about Hamsters. The employees immediately told me NOT to get a hamster because they are biters.. and are more stinky than other animals. We looked into the Guinea pig.. and I thought they were ADORABLE!!! They had a bunch of baby ones.. and I fell in love with the brown one! Hannah had no idea what was going on because I was talking in "mom code". We went home and I called Jesse. I told him all about it, told him how much I love the little brown one, and about 3 hours later... he came home and surprised the kids. We have all loved him!! He is a great pet! He requires very little.. and is very good natured! He is SUCH a "misfit".. which maked me fall in love with him all the more. Every inch of his little body has cowlicks (is that really the right spelling? funny).. so his little fur goes every which way, and every direction! He looks like he has a massive case of the bed head. There is even one on his forehead, causing a MOHAWK!! He has holes in his ears from his little siblings beating up on him, and he has a bald spot behind his ear. He is like the little "nerd" that everyone picked on.. and that makes me LOVE him all the more! The kids have been so excited about him. When Jesse first brought him home ( he is really a him, but Hannah insists that he is a HER.. so.. whatever) Hannah had to call "ALLL MY FRIENDS". She called the grandparents, some cousins, some friends, some aunts and uncles.. she was SOOO excited! Hopefully the cute little thing doesn't die from being SMOOOTHERED to death!
